With a history unlike any other homes in Philadelphia, 416 and 418 Bainbridge in Queen Village hold a unique and nostalgic character that dates back all the way to the early 1700’s. Completely modernized in 1980, the homes were updated with all new plumbing, wiring, features and more; thus transforming these stunning abodes into the delightful and charming Shippen Way Inn. For nearly 20 years, the inn was successful, bringing smiles and leaving lifelong memories to all who stayed. Sadly, after a family death, the inn was closed and returned to its original single family conditions.
Today, both homes are available and offer the best of the old world, while offering the best of the new: immaculate details, wide open kitchens, stunning roof decks, and much more. Both offer 1st floor laundry areas. Each bedroom has its own private bathroom and 416 has an expansive roof deck & storage shed (along with a 2nd kitchen on the 3rd floor) and a spiral staircase to the garden. Now, one has the option of living in one and renting out the other. Listed on the NRHP and protected by the PHC, both homes maintain the original features and values. Plus, the large and private rear courtyard has been said to be an oasis in the city.
