Pam, while one of the newest member to The Mike McCann Team, has been in Real Estate and a charismatic figure in Philadelphia for years. Those who know Pam usually have a story to tell and you can’t miss her lucky necklaces! Pam is a Center City buyer specialist and also co-lists properties with Mike McCann “The Real Estate Man.” Get to know her in her own words below!
Personal History
I am a lifelong local and have lived in many of the neighborhoods, like Fitler Square and Rittenhouse, where I now sell. I attended Middlebury College in Vermont, but scuttled back to Philly after graduation, vowing never to leave again (she says with a laugh). One of my main inspirations is my late father. He was an attorney and jazz lover who had an intimate knowledge of the city’s workings, its architecture and knew the back stories on characters around town. We both had a knack for witnessing slices of local history in the making (he was Joe Frazier’s lawyer, started the Lombard Swim Club and waved to the Pope on Chestnut St in ’79). I share my mom’s love of people, those I have known all my life and strangers I meet in line buying a cup of coffee.
I began my career at various ad agencies, on Washington Square, in Head House Square and on the Avenue of the Arts. I later started my own PR business specializing in waste management programs for Philadelphia Streets Department and PA DEP. While pregnant (twice), I was elected President of Center City Residents’ Association, which advocated for residents on the West side of Broad to Schuylkill River Park on local issues like car sharing, zoning and street trees. Eventually, I decided to use my local knowledge and relationships and become a REALTOR full time.
Fun fact: Pam’s first job was a sundae maker at Friendly’s where she wore a blue checked, polyester dress. She also worked at 3 restaurants on Germantown Ave at the same time, occassionally embarrassing customers by serving them lunch and dinner on the same day.
Why Real Estate? Why Philly?
I really enjoy working with a Team that shares the same passion for Philly Real Estate that I do. I honestly love bringing buyers into properties and knowing that they are entering an exciting chapter in their lives. I help them through the process by sharing what I know about Philadelphia real estate, much of it learned by working closely with Mike McCann. Taking the enormity of any purchase seriously, I also help buyers check tax abatements, deal with water meter issues, whatever it takes to protect and inform them. I am friendly, but intense about my responsibility as a buyer agent.
Off the Job
I work a lot, but when I am off the clock you will most likely find me relaxing on the beach in Cape May, New Jersey with my husband, kids and the extended Thistle-Rosser clan. My parents met on Windsor Beach in Cape May as teens and I have been going there since I was born.
Success tips
The key to this business is staying positive, remaining flexible and figuring out what strategies really work for you, even if they don’t seem like the most logical choice initially. It is important to commit to Real Estate full-time and take all the hits and challenges of this business right on the chin without allowing them to discourage you or hold you back. I was definitely not an overnight success. I only sold 1 house my first year in the business.
Future plans
Over time, buy more Philadelphia real estate. My husband and I have 4 properties so far and I feel good about each purchase. No jewels, just bricks for me, please.
Pam wears a lot of different hats in her day-to-day life, performing as real estate powerhouse, mother, wife and sometimes Dance Mom. She hustles all day, maintaining an extreme level of focus and a strict schedule in order to meet all of her clients’ needs. With the help of her mom and husband, Mike, she manages to chauffeur daughter Sally to dance competitions and Zoe to track meets and spend quality time with her family. It doesn’t surprise us that Pam manages to meet all of these demands in her life, but we are always impressed that she manages to do it with a smile on her face, laughing and joking all along. We all feel very grateful to have Pam here at Mike McCann Team because she provides a source of strength and inspiration with her no-excuses attitude and amazing work ethic. Mostly, we like having her here because things are a lot more fun with her around.
