Memorial Day in Philadelphia is finally here. And whether you want to relax with a drink, delve into our historical roots, or just go with the flow, there will always be something to do. Take a look at just some of the events our lovely Philadelphia has to offer.
Friday: GRAND OPENING! If you love live music, craft beer, and anything fun, you’ll love Morgan’s Pier, located right between Old City and Society Hill, on the waterfront. With over 20 craft beers, signature drinks, a mouth-watering menu of delight, in a picnic like setting, this place is sure to be the new hot spot. Featuring Chef David Katz as the gourmet genius, the fun seasonal menu serves everything from salads to bites of corn and blue crab fritters to pineapple-ancho chicken wings. Click here for more yummy details.
Saturday & Sunday: Take the kids to “Once Upon a Nation Storytelling Benches,” (right by Society Hill) where they can scurry from bench to bench, collecting stars to complete a flag. And once they’ve collected all the stars to form our beautiful flag, they can rightfully claim a coupon book and other cool prizes at the Historic Philadelphia Centeror at Franklin Square. Click here for more info.
Saturday: Do you have a soft spot for our furry friends? Join Center City for a 2.5 mile walkathon in support of The Humane League of Philadelphia. Afterwards, PAWS and the Human League will be hosting their “Spring Festival for the Animals Adoption and Advocacy Fair.” There will be raffle prizes, adoption booths, and many panting, happy faces excited to see you. Find more info here.
Saturday-Monday: Want to see what liberty looks like in 3-D panoramic and in 360º? Watch as Ben Franklin himself breaks down the symbols of freedom and their history at the PECO Theater. Tickets are only $6 for adults and $5 for kids under 12. Check it out here.
And as with every Memorial Day, please take the time to remember our troops and all of their hard work and sacrifices. Happy Memorial Day everyone!
