Dining Out at P.S. & Co.
P.S. and Co. was established in 2008 by Andrea Kyan as an online business, supplying organic, gluten-free and plant-based desserts. It remained an internet based company for 6 years until Kyan felt compelled to open a brick and mortar location in Philadelphia. She expanded her menu, fine-tuned her business plan and contacted David Fierabend of Groundswell Design to help design her ideal retail space at 17th and Locust Streets. She built her team and worked hard to get the business up and running, a process Kyan described as “making my dreams come true.” We are very grateful that we got the opportunity to listen to her tell us all about her phenomenal and inspiring restaurant.
The Style
“P.S. & Co. is an organic cafe, cold-pressed juice bar and bakery. The shop is an extension of me and the way I live. You’re essentially walking into my world when you step into P.S. & Co. Hopefully, you’ll find it a welcoming, warm, inviting space where your senses are inspired.”
The Food
“We focus on creating 100% organic, gluten-free, plant-based fare. We are also certified kosher parve due to the generosity of a local Rabbi who wanted to see more options for his congregation. Our most popular dishes are the Organic Burmese Chickpea Curry, inspired by my mom, Organic Garden Pad Thai, and our green cold-pressed juices. Besides focusing on the cleanest, whole ingredients and sourcing only organic, flavor and texture are paramount. If it doesn’t taste good, we don’t offer it. No one needs to sacrifice taste for health. You can have your “cake” and eat it, too!”
The Service
“We try to please all of our guests by always coming from a place of gratitude. We are grateful towards every guest who chooses to spend their time with us and intend to make each visit a positive experience. Service is very important for us and we hope it shows. ”
Special Features
“We are the only ones in the Philadelphia area offering organic, cold-pressed juices. Our smoothies are also a hit. We serve the cleanest and most delicious smoothies. The only sweetener is 1 ripe organic banana.”
We love the fact that P.S. and Co. has a noble mission and strives to give back to the City of Philadelphia whenever possible. Kyan states that she is always “innovating, pushing boundaries and pioneering new ideas” out of a desire to remain inspired in her work and “to do more for Philadelphia.” She has a strong desire to “change the way people eat and live in order to help prevent chronic and metabolic diseases. She truly believes in the medicinal quality of her fare and offers it in “a beautiful setting with attentive service.” With such noble goals and aspirations, it is hard not to love P.S. and Co.
