We were fortunate enough to sit down with Maya Shumar, General Manager of Beautiful Blooms, and gain an insider perspective into one of Philly’s flourishing small businesses. Beautiful Blooms is a specialized event florist, focused on creating unique floral décor for weddings, bar/bat mitzvahs, corporate events and other special occasions. They have a team of skilled employees with a talent for transforming venues to fulfill their clients dreams, and they love doing it!
Beautiful Bloom’s HQ is a larger than life, modern office/warehouse space located in the heart of Northern Liberties. Everything about Beautiful Blooms reflects an image of high class, professionalism providing a feeling of security and comfort for potential customers. The staff at Beautiful Blooms loves being a part of the Northern Liberties Community and they have enjoyed watching and participating in the booming growth that has occurred there. They also express gratitude for being a Philadelphia based business, simply stating that “the best part of working in Philly is getting to be in Philly!” Beautiful Blooms takes the time to give back to the community by donating their services to a laundry list of charities including PAWS, Back on My Feet and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Shumar combined her business sense with her fine arts education to assist in the success and growth of Beautiful Blooms, stating that her inspiration often stems from viewing event photos and becoming instantly inspired. Shumar has a true passion for creating perfect event spaces and enjoys participating in wedding design specifically because she “gets to share the happiest day of people’s lives with them.” She also enjoys having a meaningful impact on her staff by creating a positive, safe and productive work environment. Shumar and her staff have a good-isn’t-good-enough mentality and they are always looking for ways to expand and improve Beautiful Blooms by remaining open to new opportunities and change. Like any business, Beautiful Blooms faces its fair share of challenges but they respond by staying grateful, staying creative and striving for excellence and their high class products and amazing designs show their passion for their work, whether it’s a smaller corporate luncheon or a 300 person wedding, they never settle for anything but spectacular.
