Philadelphia may be one of the nation’s oldest and most legendary cities, but the people there, old and young alike, all know how to ring in the New Year. Before you firm up plans for this year’s New Year’s Eve, check out some of these events for the best that Philadelphia has to offer for the entire city.
City of Philadelphia Fireworks
If you’ll be bringing your family along, the city’s annual New Year’s Eve fireworks is just the place to go. Head out to the Delaware River waterfront and watch the first show beginning at 6pm. Children should be able to enjoy that show without having to stay up too late to see it. If you plan to use public transportation, get on SEPTA.
Take the blue line to Old City and then walk over to Penn’s Landing to see the show. The fireworks show lasts only about 15 minutes, but it fills the skyline with brilliant colors to celebrate the ending of one year and beginning of the next. Older revelers may want to stay up for the second show at midnight.
